Picasa Photo Viewer (Linux port) for Ubuntu
Aus CaiaWiki
If you are familiar with Picasa 3 for Windows you probably like the included Photo Viewer.Unfortunately there is no Photo Viewer in the current Picasa 3 for Linux version.
Many thanks to Irakli Gozalishvili who was so kind to port Photo Viewer to Linux. You can find this version on
Gozilla planet blog.
Since this version was not working with my Ubuntu installations (8.10 and 9.04, 32-bit, german) I fixed some ubuntu related issues to get this running.
Please find this new debian package of PicasaPhotoViewer-1.0.3 here and keep in mind that this of course requires Picasa 3.
To install this package just run
sudo dpkg -i PicasaPhotoViewer-1.0.3.deb
If you want to remove Picasa Photo Viewer:
sudo dpkg -r PicasaPhotoViewer
To use Photo Viewer inside Gnome Nautilus right click on the file (with file type you want to associate with Picasa Photo Viewer) Open with > Open with other application... > Use a custom command > /usr/bin/PicasaPhotoViewer
Hint: There is also a german version of Picasa 3 for Linux available where PicasaPhotoViewer is included.
Download PicasaPhotoViewer-1.0.3
